InVision Test/morning board
After checking out a link posted to social media by my instructor, I was accepted for early access to InVision, an online prototyping, collaboration, and storyboarding app. For this week's design journal, I took the opportunity to experiment with InVision's Freehand tools to board out a "morning board" app, meant to collate weather, news, and to do list information in a single, clickable screen, as often seen in futuristic/sci-fi settings.
Invision app
Accessible online similar to Google Docs, Invision's Freehand app is a collaborative sketching program allowing multiple users to sketch out visual/UI elements, similar to collaborative art programs such as OMGPOP and ScribLink. Users anywhere can log in and edit the same sketch document in real time. In using the tool for this boarding, I found the tools intuitive, with a few mouse clicks and key holding needed to create simple and clean shapes and lines, though there is no way to easily create circles. While the text tool is useful for labelling, the lack of size and font options limit its usefulness in creating varied typography, though this tool is clearly not designed for making such an advanced prototype.
Currently, the plan for next week's design journal will explore Invision's other prototyping tools.
