One of the benefits I have had in using Squarespace to build and host my personal portfolio site has been the ease of design and editing utilizing Squarespace's large library of templates. With Squarespace's template system, building the site is an easy, plug-and-play affair. With new templates made available on a regular basis, changing one's site to a new template

The current template

The current template in use on the site, "Forte," was selected due to its simple, crisp, clean appearance. The lack of serif fonts was seen as a positive feature at the time. The template, however, has been in use since the site was originally brought online in late 2015, and has not been updated in the two years since.  

The proposed new template

Were I to invest the time and effort required to transition the site to a new, fresh template, I would likely select the "Bedford" template. "Bedford" utilizes a slender, easy to read serif typeface, and features a design with less of a focus on text-over-images, leading to easier readability and scalability for mobile.
