"ugamyway"
"UGAMyWay" is a conceptual application for iOS and Android smartphones to enable Augmented Reality-assisted navigation between buildings and facilities for pedestrians at the University of Georgia main campus in Athens, Georgia.
destination selection
Upon launch, users will be brought to a UGA-branded splash screen, automatically loading into a destination selection. Users will be able to use a text entry box to search for their intended destination. Alternatively, a secondary button will allow users to select their destination from a curated list.
Map View
Once a destination is selected, users will automatically load into Map View. The program will utilize the phone's available location tracking features to plot the user's current position, using colored lines and fields to distinguish between buildings, roads, walking paths, gardens/green spaces, and bodies of water, along with other geographic features. The user will be represented by a two-tone blue dot, utilizing a directional point to indicate the direction the phone is facing.
The route to the user's destination will be plotted on the map, represented by a red line, utilizing "wing" arrow marks to indicate direction of travel. A large red button in the bottom left quadrant will enable the user to toggle between Map View and Live View.
Live View
The Augmented Reality component of the app will allow users to use their phone's camera to display a live view as seen through the phone's lens. The app, utilizing the phone's GPS and AR capabilities, will plot the red course line from the map on the screen, following the intended route in real time, as if it was painted in front of the user. A large arrow will display over the destination when the phone is oriented to the sky over the destination as viewed from its current location.
The toggle button used to access live mode will enable users to switch freely back to Map View.
